Québec City, November 10, 2011 – From February 20 to 26, 2012, the Snowboard Jamboree snowboard festival presented by LG Canada will give winter sports fans something they can’t find anywhere else on the planet: free admission to the LG/FIS World Cups—and all to the breathtaking backdrop of Stoneham Mountain Resort and beautiful downtown Québec City. Along with the traditional amateur competitions, live music, and happening fashion show, this year also sees the addition of the LG/FIS Slopestyle World Cup.

For one week only, the world’s top Snowboardcross athletes—including local Charlevoix star Dominique Maltais—will line up alongside the crème de la crème of Parallel Giant Slalom, Halfpipe, and Big Air, all aiming for a podium finish. And this year, for the first time ever at Snowboard Jamboree, Slopestyle will be among the disciplines on show on the slopes of Stoneham. Amateur comps fueled by Chocolate Milk
A host of amateur comps—including the Kinky Rail Jam, the Jambo Jam Open, and the FitSpirit Challenge—will give tomorrow’s champs a taste of the action, as they try to outdo the likes of Seb Toutant and Maëlle Ricker with family and friends looking on! Meanwhile, “Mountain in the City” will give kids age 14 and under the chance to give snowboarding a try for themselves on a specially designed slope right next to the Big Air, with instructors from Burton and Stoneham Mountain Resort on hand to give them a pointer or two. And that’s not all!

A snowboard under your feet is much more than a piece of equipment or a sports challenge—it’s a way of life, one that is reflected in what you wear, among other things. And what better way to celebrate all corners of the snowboarding world than the Fashion Jam show, featuring the hottest trends from this culture all its own. Plus, across the sites, exhibitors’ villages and live concerts are sure to have everyone in the party mood. (Photo credit: André-Olivier Lyra)
